2000-2023 Dodge Upper Ball Joint Stiff Pin Set - STAGE 2
** FOR USE IN 00+ DODGE WITH VERY STIFF KNUCKLES AFTER INSTALL OF EMF BALL JOINTS ** IT OFFERS MORE DEFLECTION SO THE UPPER KING PIN CAN RUN ON MORE OF AN ANGLE WITHOUT BINDING.
Just another one of those Dodge Problems we have come across in our years. On certain Dodge Vehicles, we noticed that some of the knuckle holes were misaligned right from the factory. This results in premature wear on the Upper Ball Joint in vehicles 2003+ (most commonly seen in 2006-2008 Dodges, but also we are seeing it happen more in the 2013.5+ Dodges).
The EMF Upper Ball Joint Design is Rigid, meaning there isn't a whole lot of room for it to move properly when the hole is misaligned in the knuckle and this creates a stiff knuckle when turning side to side. The Stiff Pin set is machined in such a way to allow it to move properly with a slight misalignment in the knuckle hole.
In a perfect world, the holes would be straight and the pin would move freely up and down with no binding. However, if you notice the knuckle (most often the driver side) is really tough to move side to side after install of EMF Ball Joints, then you will most likely require a STIFFY PIN SET to solve your problem. It's either that or brand new knuckles - but this is the most inexpensive way.
It's really easy to change out - you can do it in a few minutes by removing the set screw, Cap and internal Spirolox Ring that holds the race inside, popping the old race and pin out and replacing it with the new Stiff Pin and Race, then replacing the cap, Spirolox and set screw. Then Bob's Yer Uncle!
